Welcome back to term 4.
Dear Parents,
We hope you have all had a good holiday
and enjoyed watching the rugby. Welcome back to a short final term. This
term is going to be exceedingly busy for the Senior Syndicate.
Our Pathways is going to be
Science based. The big question is 'How can we see invisible energy?'
We are planning lots of experiments for the children to try to answer this
question.
To link in with this in Writing we
will be learning how to write Reports and our Key Competency will be
Language, Symbols and Text.
Numeracy will be based on the
needs of each group and class, but as usual we will all be teaching
Knowledge for part of the time. A great way for you to support your child
would be to help them learn their times tables and related division facts to
10 x 10 for instant recall. The children really need to know these facts to
be able to work at stage 6 and above. Later in the term we will be teaching
Money, so please start talking to your children about this now. A
good time is when you are out and about shopping, get them to work out how
much you have spent, or what change you should get. Another good idea is
using the many free flyers that come around advertising Christmas things,
give them a budget and see what they can buy for that amount.
P.E. this term is Athletics,
we will be practising hard ready for our School Athletics competition on the
17th November. The winners from this competition will go on to train for and
represent the school in the Zones finals on 30th November.
In ICT we will be learning to use
the Comic Life programme and our Arts for this term will be Dance.
On top of all this we will be practising
hard for our Prize Giving and Graduation Ceremony where we will be
celebrating all our Year 6 children's achievements. It will be held on
Thursday 15th December. Please put this date in your calendar as it is a
very important date for the Year 6 children. After this there will be a
Splish Splash time for the Year 6 children followed by a disco for the whole
school. Year 5 will also be having a Splish Splash time, we will let you
know the date for this as soon as possible.
Reports will be sent home on
Tuesday 13th December, but of course if you have any questions or
queries before this date we would love to talk to you and discuss your
child's progress.
