Welcome to term 4.
We hope you had an enjoyable time with
your children during the holidays. This will be a very busy term for all of
us as we are coming to the end of the year... but not yet. We still have
lots to do!
In middle school we will be learning one
of the key competencies Thinking - ask and act on questions that link
their science learning to everyday life on earth.
Science - Planet, Earth & Beyond -
our inquiry question is 'What makes up our solar system?'
Reading and Numeracy - focused on
individual needs of the children and all teachers will try hard to fill the
gaps children have so they are ready for next year.
Writing - we are continuing to
write Poems using interesting language and from week 4 we will start Report
writing.
Visual language - present
information using the appropriate diagrams and pictures to support the text.
Oral language - asking big
questions and selecting subsidiary questions to support the big question.
Strand Maths - will be
Probability meaning 'what is the chance of...'
Maori - students will be learning
about Maori creation legends.
Health & P.E. - Athletics and
Invasion games.
Dance - learning dance through
cultural music and Maori myths and legends.
ICT - continue with ArtRage
Trip - week 4 to Stardome
